Hurrah!

Pardon me in advance  if  when I am rude, but I am sick to death of the way bashing America, its founding fathers, its founding principles, and its founding documents has become fashionable.  I do not claim that there were not flaws--they were only human after all.  But for countless seemingly willfully ignorant myriad to trash the truly monumental foundation that they laid is wearying to the bone.  Whether it is CNN commentators denigrating the Constitution because, for example, "the structure of the Senate is...undemocratic" since it doesn't equate to "one man, one vote" (Note to Fareed: please get a clue and at a bare minimum spend some time on Wikipedia before you spout off.  "Constitutional Convention (United States)" would be a great place to start.  Try following the link to the "Connecticut Compromise"if you still don't get it.) to the truly insightful (sarcasm alert!!) question raised by Time Magazine's managing editor--"Does It [The Constitution] Still Matter?"--perfectly timed to coincide with the week of our greatest national holiday (Extra! Extra!  Get your July 4th "Trash The US" edition here!) and including such insightful analysis as "if the Constitution was intended to limit the federal government, it sure doesn’t say so" (Note to Stengel: Link to Wikipedia's article on the TENTH AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION, supplied HERE free of charge.  You're welcome.), I want to shout at the all the mindless drones so willing to spew their invective at that which makes their very mindlessness possible.  I cannot help but cheer, then, when I encounter those who clearly and succinctly expose their drivel for what it is. (2nd Note to Stengel: Indeed it DOES, you blithering windbag!.  Indeed it does!)  And so, without further ado, "July 4th," by Thomas Sowell.

Not quite sure what to say about this one

Nope, still not sure.

----------
National Education Association’s retiring top lawyer, Bob Chanin, speaking at the NEA’s annual meeting in July, 2009:
"And that brings me to my final and most important point: which is why, at least in my opinion, NEA and its affiliates are such effective advocates.
Despite what some among us would like to believe it is NOT because of our creative ideas. It is NOT because of the merit of our positions. It is NOT because we care about children and it is NOT because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power.
“And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year, because they believe that we are the unions that can most effectively represent them, the unions that can protect their rights and advance their interests as education employees.”
“This is not to say that the concern of NEA and its affiliates with closing achievement gaps, reducing dropout rates, improving teacher quality and the like are unimportant or inappropriate. To the contrary. These are the goals that guide the work we do. But they need not and must not be achieved at the expense of due process, employee rights and collective bargaining. That simply is too high a price to pay.”

If The Foundations Be Destroyed...

I am watching the defense of Anthony Weiner (D-NY), shocked, aghast, and frankly more depressed than ever about the moral situation of our country.  I am tired of the Limbo, tired of one more round of "How Low Can You Go?"

And yet there always seems to be another round.

First he was being railroaded and smeared, hacked and hounded unjustly because of his politics.  Before his admission, I was incredulous, but willing to concede on that point.  If I am unwilling to accept the words coming out of the mouth of a man, with no real evidence to the contrary, I am a sad human being.

But then it turned out to be false.  All of it.  Every statement he had made--ALL a lie.

And still he is defended.

He is the victim of a smear campaign.  In fact, he is like the Christians who were thrown to the lions. Even though HE was the one who originated, emailed, tweeted, took, phoned, etc, etc, etc, lewd, indecent, wicked emails, tweets, photographs, phone calls, etc, etc, etc AND blatantly & vociferously lied about it to every human being on the planet.

All he did was lie after all--we do it to our girlfriends all the time, right, so what's the big deal with him betraying his WIFE and every human being on the planet (or offering his porn star liaisons PR help so THEY can lie too, for that matter)?

He made all of his initial defenders look like idiots, but hey, that's no reason to speak out against him now!  You don't want the other side to win, do you?  DO YOU?!?

51% of polled New Yorkers say he should not resign. (Should I be shocked?  Why am I not?)  This despite the fact that he has betrayed every semblance of trust--not simply by his actions, but by his blatant & vociferous lying--to every human being on the planet.  Some of whom happen to be New Yorkers. Some of whom happen to be his constituents.  (For the love of anything decent, where, at a bear minimum, is the self respect of these 51% of people??  HE LIED TO YOUR FACE AS IF YOU WERE A STUPID CHILD!!)

And the over-arching excuse dejour repeated ad-nauseam by a host of liberal elitists is,  "After all, he didn't do anything wrong because he didn't do anything illegal."  It wasn't illegal!  Therefore it wasn't wrong!  Case closed, end of story, get over it already.  Don't get all hung up in morality!  Don't start hyperventilating over ethics!  Put those old-fashioned ideas of right and wrong back in the stone age where they belong!

But the reality is that what Anthony Wiener did IS wrong!  Even before any material legally deemed "pornographic" emerged, IT WAS AND IS WRONG! It is not gray, or grey, or any other shade.  It is WRONG.  To misuse and abuse the trust placed upon you by the office held, even if not illegal IS WRONG!  To engage in sexual imagery, dialogue,  conversations, etc with someone who is not your spouse, even if NOT illegal IS WRONG!  To lie, vociferously and blatantly to EVERYONE--wife, constituents, public at large--even if not illegal IS WRONG!

When such a one cannot be called to account for his actions on the basest of excuses--namely that what occurred was not "illegal"--then we have reached a place that is beyond disheartening.  It is corrupt, devoid of any moral fiber, and drowning in the cesspool of relativism that is our modern world.  When such a man who has done such things cannot be called what he is--an unfaithful man, a dishonest man, and yes, even--GASP--a wicked man--we have lost something of deep and abiding value that cannot be recovered easily.

I do not despise Anthony Wiener.  I do not revel in his fall.  I do not say he has done things that are unique in the history of the world, that his actions are more egregious that others before him, or that he should be punished more severely than others who have done the same.  I am simply saddened by the depth of decay on display in the myriad voices seeking to excuse his actions as nothing of significance.  And I am saddened for the eyes that now witness these things and will build upon them in future days.  If the foundations be thus weakened today, where, how stands tomorrow?

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  Psalm 11:3

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.  Psalm 79:9

Surprise: Hollywood is Liberal!

Just in case you didn't realize it: YES, Hollywood is liberal.  And the liberals admit it. AND its NOT just liberal shows.  Of course Friends is.  But what about COPS, or MacGyver?  Surely they don't have liberal biases, right?  Surely its not THAT pervasive, is it?  Surprise! Think again.
